Challenge Extended

My Zen MP3 player picked an absolute gem yesterday, a song which I believe has the best opening line of any song ever.

The song in question was "Medical Love Song" from "Monty Python Sings" performed by the late great Graham Chapman, and it's first line is:

"Inflammation of the foreskin reminds me of your smile"

How good is that!! Now if you can come up with a better first line I'd love to hear it.

Speaking of Graham Chapman, I have to recommend a new DVD that came out a few weeks ago of his 1988 American college lecture tour, filmed shortly before he died. The picture quality is quite poor, but the reason for this is that it is taken from Grahams own archives and was recorded on home video (and as the box says "Every effort has been made to present the best-looking and best sounding program possible by utilizing some really expensive equipment with lots of cool flashing lights on it, including the machine that goes Ping!"), but that really doesn't matter as the content is absolutely hilarious. He talks about the origins of some Python sketches, his escapades with Keith Moon and his activities as a member of The Dangerous Sports Group. One of the stories from the Dangerous Sports Group provides the DVD with it's title, "Looks Like A Brown Trouser Job"

You Wouldn't Let It Lie

Finally after years of waiting and eventually giving up and putting my battered old VHS tapes onto DVD, "Vic Reeves Big Night Out" is coming to DVD!! It's out on the 12th of September and has both series one and two in one set.

And as if that isn't enough it seems like the DVD companies have finally realized that there is a huge gap in the release of 1990's comedy and so we are also getting "The imaginatively Titled Punt & Dennis Show" and "Alexei Sayle's Stuff"!!! Both are out on the 5th of September.

Right next we'd like "The Mary Whitehouse Experience", "Seans Show", "Fist Of Fun", "The Friday Night Armistice" and "The Smell Of Reeves and Mortimer" please.

The Big Boys Are Back In Town

How excited am I??

September sees the release of new albums from two of my all time favourites.

First up are The Rolling Stones on the 6th September with "A Bigger Bang" and then Paul McCartney on the 12th with "Chaos And Creation In The Backyard".

I haven't heard any of the new Stones stuff yet but Joll has and assures me that it is sounding pretty darn good, but I have heard Sir Maccas new single and it blew me away...If you are interested you can hear it here...You just need to register with his website.

Then they are both touring the UK next year...I'd better start saving up now.

Bovine Ballet

Yesterday I saw one of the most incredible things ever......A cow itching its nose with one of its back legs!!

It was amazing...it really was almost balletic in its graceful movement....although I suppose if it wasn't graceful it would have fallen over.

I love driving through the countryside I do!!

Neil Armstrong........Walking On Me Face

The new series of "The Mighty Boosh" has just started on BBC3 as it looks like it is going to be a corker. It shows the frankly bizarre antics of Howard Moon, Vince Noir, Naboo the Shaman and Bollo the Gorilla. It is on Tuesday nights and then repeated on Thursday.

Also, each episode is available to watch on the BBC3 Website for a week before it is on TV....I can highly recommend that you give it a go.

If you missed the first series you can catch up soon as it is out on DVD from the 29th of August.

Greetings

Welcome to Ann and Andrews new home on the t'internet. As we have only just moved in you'll probably notice lots of little changes over the next few weeks as we move the furniture round to see what goes best where and as we do some decorating.

Hopefully it will then settle down and we'll see where it goes from there.
